(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) The Chiefs released kicker Ryan Succop and placed quarterback Tyler Bray on injured reserve as they finalized their 53-man roster on Saturday.

Succop, a sixth-year veteran, has been in a battle with rookie Cairo Santos throughout camp. He leaves as the most accurate kicker in team history with a career field goal percentage of 81. He was the final pick of the 2009 NFL Draft.

Placing Bray on injured reserve allows the Chiefs to retain all four quarterbacks. He had been in competition with Chase Daniel to be Alex Smith's primary backup, but Daniel remains on the active roster above rookie Aaron Murray.

Wide receiver Kyle Williams was also placed on injured reserve.

Kansas City released 16 total players on Saturday:

S Jonathon Amaya

LB Alonzo Highsmith
LB Nico Johnson
DT Kyle Love
CB Justin Rogers
DL Kona Schwenke

CB DeMarcus Van Dyke

NFL teams have 24 hours to place waivers on any player who is cut. Those who clear waivers will be eligible to be signed to the practice squad.
