(COLUMBIA, Mo.) Benton's third state appearance in program history came as a surprise to some.  Their presence in Columbia meant a successful season, despite Saturday not being the ending the Lady Cardinals were hoping for.

Benton dropped their second game of the weekend, a 42-33 decision to Marshfield at Mizzou Arena, to finish fourth in Class 4.

The Lady Cardinals (20-10) started strong with four different players scoring in the first quarter. Lucy Mollett and Lindsay Doolan each hit layups to give Benton three-point leads late in the frame.

Marshfield (26-6) came back to drop 13 points in the second frame to take a 23-16 lead at halftime. The Lady Jays were paced by Kansas signee Lauren Aldridge with 13 points of her own.

The two teams combined for just three buckets in the third quarter as the Lady Cardinals' only points came on a Mallory McAndrews three-pointer with 1:29 to go. She and Morgan Domann each finished with eight points while the latter also grabbed eight rebounds.

Payton Greenlee scored 10 points for Marshfield, while Samantha French pulled down 11 boards and scored six points.

This marks the final game for Mollett plus fellow senior Lindsay Doolan.
