(ST. JOSEPH) Monday marks the second round of high school baseball district tournaments, and the first of two games at Phil Welch Stadium features cross-town rivals.

Benton and Lafayette will meet for the fifth time this season in the Class 4, District 16 tournament semifinal at 5:00 p.m. The Fighting Irish have won every battle so far but, unlike the Cardinals, have had a four-day break since their last game after earning the top seed.

Savannah will face Smithville later on Monday night after a walk off wild pitch allowed Taylor Gilbert to score the winning run against Chillicothe on Saturday.

Bishop LeBlond also opens district play as the top seed in Class 3, District 16 against University Academy at Missouri Western. Maryville takes on Plattsburg on the other side of the bracket.

The Class 2, District 16 tournament in Dearborn pits host North Platte against top-seeded East Buchanan and reigning Class 2 runner up West Platte against Mid-Buchanan.

North Nodaway and South Nodaway also square off in the semifinal of Class 1, District 16 in Green City while Northeast Nodaway faces the host Gophers.
