(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Missouri Western softball added a big bat to their roster for the 2015 season.

Bishop LeBlond held a signing ceremony for senior catcher Sophie Gentry Wednesday in Grace Gymnasium.

Gentry joins Kristin Lange as the Griffon catchers during the 2015 season.

"It feels great to be able to have a college so close that I can go and play a sport that I love and have my family and friends come and watch me," Gentry said.

The Eagle's backstop helped lead the team to a 26-3 record and the school's only state title in her final year. She also left her mark in the LeBlond record books. Gentry set the single-season standard for batting average hitting well over .600. She also set the bar with 53 RBIs in 2013.

"We've had a lot of success here so I am looking forward to going to a winning college team and having the same success or even more."
