(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A harsh Missouri winter isn't scaring St. Joseph native Zac Miller away from the midland empire.

Miller signed his letter of intent to run cross country and track at Northwest Missouri State on Wednesday. The Central High School senior says the campus in Maryville was a big selling point, as well as being part of a program on the rise.

"Coach Lorek is really awesome; a really caring guy. They have a young, growing program that's really going to be competing well here in a few years, and I want to be part of that."

Miller chose Northwest over Southwest Baptist.

He's made it to state in cross country in each of the past four years. He's joining a team that's only losing one senior off this year's squad.
