The Stanberry school board voted not to renew the longtime coach's contract on March 17th. Jason Dias, the school's athletic director, cited a personnel issue for the coach. Dias nor Collins would not comment on what the issue involved.
The news comes after Collins led Stanberry to their two most successful seasons from 2012-2013, earning the program's first two berths in the 8-Man State Championship Game and first title in 2012. The Bulldogs posted a 24-2 record during that stretch.
He was the longest active tenured coach at the Missouri 8-Man level, having led the Bulldogs since 1994. He compiled a 146-66 record and 17 winning seasons, capturing five of the school's six district championships.
Collins said he would coach again if a new job that was right for him came open.
