(GOWER, Mo.) East Buchanan charged out to a 7-0 start to the 2013 season, but fell twice to Hamilton, including a 40-34 defeat in the Class 1, District 8 Championship Game, to finish the year 9-3.

Now, like many teams in the KCI, the Bulldogs have spots to fill.

"Our question marks are going to be at the offensive and defensive line," head coach Kevin Bryan said. "We lost some good kids last year. We lost 3 kids on both sides of the ball, but we're going to have some good skill position kids. I think we are going to be able to throw the ball well."

That confidence comes from the reps that new starting quarterback, Colby Rapp, got under center in place of an injured Eddie Kilgor last season. He kept East Buchanan out of the loss column and is now set to lead the offense.

"(Rapp) is a good quarterback and he knows the system," seniore linebacker Trevor Johnson said. "(Kilgore) went down a few games and he stepped in and did just fine."

He'll have ample experience around him as the Bulldogs return four receiers and two running backs with game experience, including the younger Kilgore, Ryan.

"It gives you confidence that you are going to able to put some points on the board and be able to go at a fast tempo," Bryan said. "We like to go fast we don't like to huddle up. We try and wear down the other team and with what we saw this summer, we got a lot of confidence in those kids. Hopefully will be able to perform at a higher level."

East Buchanan opens the season on Friday, August 22 at Maysville.
