(GOWER, Mo.) Quarterback Cory Bower used a solid senior season to lead East Buchanan to the Class 1 Semifinals. He also earned first-team all-state honors.

"He's one of those kids that just comes along every once in a while and you just make the best of it and enjoy him while you've got him," Bulldogs head coach Kevin Bryan said.

Bower graduated after the solid season, and passed the reins of the offense to Eddie Kilgore. East Buch also returns four offensive linemen from 2011's playoff team.

Overall, Bryan says the 'Dawgs do have the luxury of having a lot of capable players.

"Our depth will be good, but we don't have anybody that's separating themselves from each other," Bryan said. "We're giving a lot of kids time, so we may not be getting the timing that we need with one certain group. Hopefully through practice and as hard as they work we'll get that timing down and be ready for the first ball game."

Once that timing does arrive for East Buchanan, they expect to be a quick striking offense.

"We've got a lot more speed this year. Hopefully we can stretch the field and make yardage through the running game like we did last year," Bryan said. "Last year we were 50-50 pass-run, so hopefully we can stay that way."

As they sort out their weapons for the coming season, everyone on the Bulldogs roster is pulling for the person standing next to them.
"It's a brotherhood really, we're all tight knit, we all love each other," senior Jace Zeit said. "We've got each other's backs. If somebody needs help we are going to help them and pull together."

"The team dynamic has been pretty good during the summer," Bryan said. "They've worked hard. They've worked together. The chemistry's been pretty good, but you never know until you have a little adversity how the chemistry's going to happen."

The Bulldogs open the season at home on August 24th against Crest Ridge.
