Members of the Junior Mustangs, in its first year of existence, fielded balls in batting practice, helped the grounds crew, and caught Saturday night's game with Nevada from the dugout at Phil Welch Stadium.
Benton's Dade Wheeler and Dillon Mattice, Lafayette's Tyler Burgess and Brad Hiserote, and Bishop LeBlond's Patrick Dillon and Jonathan Zuptich are among those who participated.
For those players who are playing baseball at the next level, the connection with the Mustangs gives a taste of what to expect next spring.
"It's just a way to get associated with the Mustangs and get some college experience with college players," Dillon said. "We'll do the stuff that freshman do at a college campus. It's a way to get used to things so it's not a big shock to us when we get to college."
The Junior Mustangs, made up of high school-aged players from around northwest Missouri, recently began their season and are in the midst of a tournament at William Jewell College.
