(HOUSTON, Texas) Yordano Ventura shut down the Astros and Omar Infante showed some power at the plate as the Royals (5-7) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-2 win.

Ventura recorded his first career win allowing two runs, just one earned, in seven innings. Kansas City's rookie sensation struck out seven batters as his ERA remained at a slim 0.69.

Infante gave his starting pitcher a first inning lead hitting a 354-foot solo home run into the left field seats. It's the second baseman's first homer with Kansas City, and just the team's second this season. He also added a RBI fielder's choice in the third.

Eric Hosmer reached base three times going 2-3 with a walk. He doubled off the left field wall in the third inning to drive in his third RBI of the season.

Billy Butler also hit a sacrifice fly scoring Nori Aoki in the fifth.

Kansas City leaned on closer Greg Holland in the ninth inning as he picked up his fourth save of the season. Holland struck out all three batters he faced.

Game two of the three game series between the Royals and Astros is Wednesday at 7:10pm in Houston. Jeremy Guthrie will make the start for Kansas City.
