The MINK League set the date and location for its third annual all-star game and home run derby.
The contest will be held on Thursday, July 6, but will switch venues this summer. St. Joseph hosted the event each of the last two seasons, but for the first time, it shifts to Chillicothe.
"After all the hard work from my coaching staff and front office that it took to put on two outstanding MINK League All-Star Games, we think the time has come for another city to host this great event," Mustangs' CEO and President Dan Gerson said. "The 2017 game will be in Chillicothe. Very high expectations follow along with the 2017 All-Star Game after our great fans welcomed the contest and its players to St. Joseph the last two summers, and showed why Phil Welch Stadium is the premiere venue in the MINK League. We wish them all the best."
The MINK League playoff format is also changing in 2017.
The new format will allow the top three teams from each division to advance to the postseason with the top team in the North and South Divisions receiving first round byes.
The opening round of the postseason will feature the No. 2 and No. 3 team in each division facing off in a wild card game, with the winner moving on to meet their respective division winners in a one-game divisional playoff.
Winners of the divisional playoff advance to the best-of-three MINK League Championship Series.
