Five Griffs Score Double-Digits in Drubbing of Avila

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Missouri Western hit triple-digits for the first since 2002 in a 104-50 win over Avila Tuesday night.

The Griffons (2-0) started hot shooting 65-percent from the field and 58-percent beyond the three-point arc in the first half. Western cooled slightly in the second half, but still outscored Avila by 22 in the final 20 minutes.

Ariana Novak and Tiffanie Abrams led all scorers with 14 points apiece. Sharniece Lewis and JaQuitta Dever added 11, and Tiara Hall scored ten points.

Abrams, Dever and Lewis led the charge as the Western bench outscored Avila's 60-13, and the Griffons had 46 points in the paint.

All 17 players on the Missouri Western roster saw playing time, with 13 getting in on the scoring.

Avila shot 34-percent from the field in the game, and couldn't get into a rhythm turning the ball over 22 times.

Missouri Western is home again Friday with a contest against the University of Illinois Springfield.
