(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) After a promising 8-2 win in the series opener on Friday, Missouri Western was battered in their final three games in Warrensburg.

The Griffons gave up 30 runs on 40 hits as they fell 15-2 and 15-7 to No. 21 Central Missouri.

MWSU (24-17, 20-14) has yet to clinch a spot in the MIAA Tournament with four home games against Fort Hays remaining on the schedule.

The Mules scored the first five runs of game one, all coming off Jake Jones (5-3). The senior lasted 4 1/3 innings, giving up six runs on 12 hits while striking out two.

The Griffons got their only two runs in the fourth via an RBI triple by Hunter Weiss and a single by Mitch Thorman.

Thorman also came in to record the last two outs in relief after Josh Lansangan and Tyler Tuepker each yielded a pair of runs. Thorman allowed five more runners to touch home.

UCM (32-13, 29-7) worked even quicker in game two, hanging nine runs in the first frame. That knocked starter Tyler Sanders (3-3) out of the game after just two outs.

Cody Childs and Dylan Koch each cracked five hits, while Michael Yeager drove in three runs, including his first career homer.

Mark Spreckels pitched the bulk of the game, giving up three runs on eight hits over 3 1/3 innings.
