The longball went against MWSU in their next game against top-seeded Winona State, who cracked three of them to end the Griffons' season with a 5-4 defeat in the Central Regional.
MWSU outhit Winona State 11-5, but all five Warrior runs came off their three hits that left the yard. Morgan Lintz lifted the biggest bomb of the day off Jackie Bishop in the first inning before following up Jenny Nelson for back-to-back dingers to break a 3-3 tie in the sixth.
Bishop (26-10) shut down Southern Arkansas, allowing just four hits while striking out six.
After giving up the opening homer of game two, she allowed just one hit until the sixth. The bats helped by hanging one run in three straight frames, culminating in Gillaspy's tying single in the fifth. Bre Flsechner and Michelle Stevenson also drove in runs.
MWSU (39-18) loaded the bases with one out in the sixth, but a fielder's choice caught Shelby Elliott at home and Sydney Washington flied out to center to cough up the chance.
Bishop, the Griffons' all-time wins leader, finishes her tenure 96-29 with 977 strikeouts. Stevenson, Taylor Anding, and Kat Steponovich also close the door on their careers.
MWSU won 19 of their last 23 games and captured their first-ever MIAA Tournament Championship last Saturday.
