(ST. JOSEPH) Dave Lau has chosen to leave Missouri Western to become the new athletic director at Montana Tech University.

Lau has been MWSU's Assistant Director of Athletics for Development since 2003. He was selected from a final pool of three candidates to take over for the NAIA department.

His predecessor, Charles Bradley, only served as Montana Tech's athletic director for eight months before being fired.

A native of St. Joseph, he played baseball for three seasons before signing a minor league contract with the New York Mets. After another three seasons in the minors, he returned to graduate from MWSU in 1989.

He again returned to the school in 1999 as an assistant baseball coach and administrator before assuming his full-time duties four years later.

Lau was inducted into the MWSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2008.
