(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Missouri Western (8-10, 3-8 MIAA) wasn't crisp offensively Wednesday night, but a strong defensive effort bailed out the Griffons for a 42-28 win. Lincoln's 28 points are the third fewest that Western's given up in program history, and the Griffs 42-point output is their lowest in a win.
The Blue Tigers shot just 17.1-percent from the field and turned the ball over 24 times. Jennifer Rosado led all scorers with 13 points, but only one other Lincoln player had at least eight points.
The Griffons were led by Sharniece Lewis and JaQuitta Dever with 10 points apiece. Jallisa Lewis pulled down 11 rebounds in the win.
Missouri Western overcame shooting just 31.5-percent from the field, and 12.5-percent beyond the arc.
The Griffs are home once again Saturday against Lindenwood.
Lincoln men 71, Missouri Western 99
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Missouri Western (9-10, 4-7 MIAA) scored its highest regular season total Wednesday night in a 99-71 win over Lincoln. The Griffons shot a season-high 66.7-percent from the field on the way to their third consecutive home win.
Five different Griffs finished with double-digit point totals led by Ryan Devers' 24 points on 8-9 shooting. Cortrez Colbert added 16, while Dareon Jones scored 15 points.
The blowout victory comes on the heels of Missouri Western's most lopsided loss of the season -- a 24-point defeat at Missouri Southern. The Griffs responded right away jumping ahead of the Blue Tigers 16-6 in the first six minutes of the game. Western took a 21-point lead into halftime.
The win boosts Missouri Western up to ninth in the MIAA standings with a game at home against Lindenwood coming Saturday.
