(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) After three years of back and forth meetings with their biggest MIAA rival, No. 2 Northwest Missouri State left no doubt in a 51-21 win over No. 19 Missouri Western Saturday.

The victory sealed the Bearcats (11-0) first perfect regular season since 2006, and should earn a first round bye in the Division II playoffs. The selection show will take place Sunday afternoon at 4pm.

Northwest senior quarterback Trevor Adams accounted for four touchdowns -- two passing and two rushing -- including a one-yard plunge to cap off the first drive of the game.

After a Missouri Western (8-3) punt, Adams hit Clint Utter on an eight-yard scoring strike to open a 14-0 first quarter lead.

The Griffons responded with a 12 play, 85 yard drive that ended with a Raphael Spencer touchdown run. Spencer, the MIAA's rushing leader, finished the game with 72 yards on 15 carries.

Northwest scored the final ten points of the half to take a 24-7 lead into halftime.

In the previous four meetings between Missouri Western and Northwest, the team trailing by at least 11 points went on to win the game, but the Bearcats thwarted that in the third quarter.

Adams and Robert Burton rushed for scores to go ahead 38-7.

Travis Partridge put the Griffons on the scoreboard again with a touchdown pass to Stephon Weaver, and another to Reggie Jordan in the fourth quarter. Partridge finished the final home game of his career going 14-36 for 178 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

The Bearcats sealed the game with a two-yard score by Burton with 1:44 left to play.

Missouri Western entered the day with the eighth spot in the Super Region 3 rankings. The loss sealed the Griffons out of the playoffs, but they could still end up in a bowl game.
