(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) After five years as the voice of Missouri Western athletics, and high school sports in St. Joseph, ESPN 1550 Sports Director Dave Riggert is going home.

Riggert accepted a job with the Husker Sports Network on Friday. The University of Nebraska alumnus will do play-by-play for Cornhusker baseball, and help with football and basketball broadcasts. He'll also host the nightly show "Sports Nightly".

Riggert says he and his family took a leap of faith when coming to St. Joseph, and the community has made them feel at home.

"When our family moved here we didn't know anybody," Riggert said. "We didn't know a single soul. People reached out. Getting to know people at Missouri Western, falling in love with the Griffons getting to do their football games, and basketball and baseball -- it's been a blast. That's one thing that I really had to wrestle with to leave that behind."

He will call one final Missouri Western football game this Thursday when the Griffons play Central Missouri.
