(BOLIVAR, Mo.) Entering the final day of the regular season, Missouri Western was in a three-way tie for the final two spots in the MIAA Tournament, and just needed to win to get in. But the Griffs road woes continued Saturday in a 62-57 loss to Southwest Baptist.
The loss ends the Griffons' season with a 10-16 record overall, 5-14 in the MIAA; just one victory shy of the postseason.
Senior JaQuitta Dever tried to will Western to a win scoring 22 points on 8-12 shooting, but she was the only player to score in double digits. As a team, the Griffons shot 21-55 from the field.
Western won the first meeting against Southwest Baptist (11-15, 6-13 MIAA) by 10 points, but failed to lead the Bearcats by more than two points on Saturday. The Griffs managed to win just one road game in 12 attempts this season.

(BOLIVAR, Mo.) Despite a three-point loss in the regular season finale, Missouri Western's season is still alive.
The Griffons (10-17, 5-14 MIAA) lost to Southwest Baptist (14-14, 7-12 MIAA) 100-97 on Saturday, but Washburn knocked off Pittsburg State 92-90 in overtime to drop the Gorillas one game below Western in the final standings.
Missouri Western advances to the first round of the MIAA Tournament Tuesday at 7pm against Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Ok.
Point guard Ryan Devers lit up the scoreboard in Bolivar Saturday dropping a career-high 40 points on 13-24 shooting in the loss. Cortrez Colbert and Kalvin Balque added 19 and 18 points, respectively.
The Bearcats shot 54.8-percent from the field led by Desi Barmore's 32 points.
The Griffons record away from home drops to 1-10 with the loss.
