Western Men Snap Skid; Women Lose 4th Straight

Missouri Western women 55, Lincoln 56

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo) Leading by one point with three seconds to go, Missouri Western appeared to be on the way to its first win in four games. But the Griffs couldn't hang on. Tiffanie Abrams hit the go-ahead shot, but then fouled Lincoln's Jennifer Rosado with 1.8 seconds left. Rosado hit two free throws to give the Blue Tigers a 56-55 win.

Missouri Western (9-14, 4-12 MIAA) has now lost four in a row, and have dropped ten of 11 road games.

The Griffons were leading 21-20 at halftime despite shooting just 24-percent in the first 20 minutes. Western was better offensively in the second half making 45-percent of its field goal attempts, but it wasn't enough.

Lincoln was outscored 34-18 on points in the paint and 24-14 on points off turnovers, but made it a ball game by hitting 27 of 36 free throw attempts. Western was 8-11 at the free throw line.

Missouri Western men 82, Lincoln 65

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) Three Griffons scored in double figures Wednesday night as Missouri Western picked up an 82-65 road win over Lincoln.

The victory snaps a four-game losing streak for Western.

Hans Thun hit a three-pointer for the Griffs with 8:56 remaining in the first half to take a two-point lead, and Western (10-14, 5-11 MIAA) never looked back. The black and gold led by as many as 19 points in the second half.

Missouri Western is now 1-9 away from the MWSU Fieldhouse, and hold a 1/2 game lead on Lindenwood for the 11th spot in the MIAA standings.

Kalvin Balque posted a double-double scoring 18 points and pulling down 18 rebounds. Cortrez Colbert scored a team-high 19 points, and Ryan Devers added 17.

The Griffons are back home Saturday against Northwest.
