(ST. JOSEPH) It took a late-inning comeback for the Mustangs on Wednesday to avoid their first non-league loss in four years.

On Thursday, the offense left little doubt as St. Joseph battered the Ban Johnson Raiders 9-1 for their seventh straight win.

Central graduate Hayden Steele, getting his first start at third base, plated the first run of the game in the fourth inning with his second hit of the night. Brandon Huske drove in another run by grounding into a fielder's choice before the inning closed.

Huske, Joe Koerper, and Mike Sherburne all took part in a five-run fifth by belting RBIs. The latter two came close to the first home run at Phil Welch Stadium by a Mustang this season, knocking extra base hits to the center field wall.

Trent Kinney allowed just one hit and one run while striking out five over seven frames. He carried a no-hit bid until giving up a leadoff triple in the sixth.

The Mustangs (13-3, 6-3) will spend their first Friday on the road tomorrow at Sedalia.
