(SOUTH YARMOUTH, Mass.) A St. Joseph Mustang alum will play among the best college baseball players in the nation in the Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game.

Bourne Braves middle infielder Tim Caputo will play for the West squad in the CCBL All-Star Game Saturday at Red Wilson Field.

Caputo is the first former Mustang to be selected for the game, and he's also the first to go for his college squad -- the University of Rhode Island Rams. The Greenlawn, New York native is also the only baseball player from the Atlantic 10 Conference to be selected for the game.

Through 31 games this summer for Bourne, Caputo leads the team in runs scored with 20, is third in hits with 31 and RBI with 11, and is batting .310. The sure-handed fielder also is tops in defensive assists with 74.

The Cape Cod Baseball League is considered the top summer college baseball league in the nation.

Caputo hit .338 with nine RBI in 24 MINK games for the Mustangs in 2012. He'll enter his junior season at Rhode Island this fall.
