The St. Joseph Mustangs beat Omaha Diamond Spirit 5-4 at Phil Welch on Friday.
Omaha scored in the top of the second, answered by Kyle Richards' run off of Kyle
Simpson's hit in the bottom of the third. In the bottom of the fourth, Jordan Guida hit
a double and scored off of Jordan Hurtt's hit. Hurtt stole third and scored off of an
error by the catcher, putting the Mustangs ahead 3-1.
In the bottom of the seventh, Maxime Lefevre and Mark Robinette scored runs off
of Kris Koerper's walk and an error by the pitcher Ryan Christophel from Diamond
Spirit, bringing the lead for the Mustangs 5-1.
In the top of the eighth, Omaha's James Harris scored off of Zach Willand's sac fly.
The Diamond Spirit cut it close in the top of the ninth, with George Gugino scoring
off of Brian Wuest's double and Wuest off of Jonathon Folena's single with two outs,
putting the Mustangs ahead by only one run. However, Phillip Wilson struck out
John Sorenson, ending the game with a 5-4 win for the Mustangs.
The Mustangs' Robinette is currently on a five game hitting streak and a four game
scoring streak, with a triple in tonight's game.
