(ST. JOSEPH) Throngs of Bearcats landed at Phil Welch Stadium Saturday for the Mustangs' Northwest night.

They were treated to fireworks during and after the game as St. Joseph defeated Sedalia 8-0 for their fifth straight win.

It took until the fourth inning to start figuring out Bombers hurler Robert Greco, who recorded six strikeouts before the Mustangs (12-9) started coming around.

Griffin Gordon continued a hot first week with the team, knocking a sacrifice fly to left in the fourth for the first his three RBI on the night.

Aaron Baker nursed a 1-0 lead through the sixth before St. Joe widened the gap by plating runners in each of the last three frames. Baker tossed eight innings, scattering seven hits while fanning 10 batters.

Griffin and Joe Koerper added the first bit of wiggle room in the bottom of the sixth with RBI singles. The left fielder then plated Kyle Richards to start the next inning to round out his productive night at the plate.

Zac Johnson picked up a pair of RBI as well, while the Mustangs' other two runs came unearned in the seventh.

St. Joseph finishes the weekend on the road with a first pitch at Chillicothe at 7 p.m. Sunday.
