(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Mustangs finished the 2013 home slate with a dominating 11-3 win over the KC Monarchs.
St. Joe (28-19, 21-19 MINK) sent 12 batters to the plate in the second inning and scored seven times to open a commanding lead. With two out, Jeremy Monty came through with an extra-base hit to bring the first two runs home. Monty then scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0. After Brandon Huske reached, Lucas Powers kept the line moving with a RBI triple.
Jonathan McCann got the win making his final career start for St. Joseph. The hometown pitcher allowed three runs on seven hits, and struck out three in five innings.
The win is the Mustangs second in a row after dropping four straight games to eliminate them from the postseason.
St. Joseph's final two games of the season are both on the road. The Mustangs play at Ozark Sunday with Jerad Hawkins getting the start, then Dixon Marble takes the mound in Chillicothe Monday for the season finale.
