Aaron Baker and Jerad Hawkins pitched shutout gems as well, helping the Mustangs sweep Joplin 16-0 and 4-0 in their doubleheader on Friday.
The hit parade began early for the Mustangs (6-3, 4-3) with Kris Koerper's three-run home run to right field in the first inning of game one. It marked the start of a six-RBI night for the designated hitter.
Michael Schulze pushed the lead to four in the second frame, grounding into a fielder's choice. St. Joe went on to plate four runners in the third and eight in the fourth. Schulze led the way with four RBI, while Koerper and Lucas Powers drove in three apiece.
Baker (2-0) pitched a complete seven-inning outing, allowing just four hits while striking out six.
Backed up by solid defense, the Outlaws' Aaron Bedsworth stifled the Mustangs' offense for a little longer in the nightcap. He struck out five batters and kept the home squad off the board until the fourth, until Koerper slapped an RBI double to score Kyle Simpson and Grant Fink.
Fink then drew a bases-loaded walk off Josh Lansangan in the fifth before Koerper came through again with a single, plating Schulze for the team's fourth run.
That proved to be enough for Hawkins (1-1), who struck out four and surrendered five hits in a complete game.
The Mustangs finish their series with Joplin Saturday with a 7 p.m. first pitch.
