Mustangs Reign Over Monarchs

The St. Joe Mustangs defeated the KC Monarchs 16-4 Wednesday night at Phil Welch Stadium.

In the bottom of the first, Tim Caputo scored the first run of the game off of Spiker Helms' hit. The
Mustangs had five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Shane Segovia hit a triple, bringing in Kris
Koerper and Jordan Guida. In the next play, Jake Kretzer and an error by the Monarch's right fielder
brought Segovia home. Caputo and Jordan Hurtt scored off of Patrick Burkhart's double, putting the
Mustangs ahead 6-0.

The Monarchs scored one run in the top of the fifth, but the Mustangs answer that with another five
runs in the bottom of the fifth. Guida scored again off of Segovia's double. Segovia scored off of Josh
Baker's single and Baker scored off of Caputo's sac hit. In the next play, Hurtt scored off of Burkhart's hit
and an error by the short stop. Finally, Koerper's hit brought Burkhart in, making the score 11-1.

In the top of the sixth, the Monarchs score three times. In the bottom of the seventh, the Mustangs
score another five runs. Nick Andriano scored off of Koerper's home run. Kyle Richards and Kretzer
scored off of Baker's hit and an error by the right fielder. Baker scored in the next play on Hurtt's hit and
an error by the short stop, finalizing the score at 16-4.

The Mustangs had zero errors during this game, while the Monarchs had six.
