(SEDALIA, Mo.) St. Joseph hit a speed bump on its quest for a second consecutive MINK League Championship.

The Mustangs dropped the first game of a three game series Friday night to the Sedalia Bombers 10-6.

Relief pitchers Jarrod Miller and Phillip Wilson combined to give up seven earned runs in 3 2/3 innings.

The Mustangs scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning, including a two-RBI triple from Shane Segovia, to take a 6-3 lead.

The Bombers fought back with a run in the sixth, two in the seventh and four more in the eight inning. The back breaker in the four-run frame was a three-RBI triple by Sedalia's Drake Austin off Wilson.

The Oklahoma State pitcher suffered the loss giving up four runs on four hits in an inning and a third.

Segovia paced the Mustangs offense collecting two hits and four RBI increasing his batting average to .342. Patrick Burkhart and Kris Koerper were the only other St. Joe players with a multi-hit game, each with two singles.

The loss puts the Mustangs backs against the wall, another Bombers win ends the three-game series.

St. Joseph hosts Sedalia Saturday night in game two of the MINK Championship Series. Game three, if necessary, is Sunday at Phil Welch Stadium.

In the three regular season games at Phil Welch between the Bombers and Mustangs, St. Joe outscored Sedalia 30-14 while winning two of the contests.
