St Joe Mustangs Announce 2011 Schedule
Fresh from a season that saw them finish 4th in the National Baseball Congress Tournament, the St. Joe Mustangs have finalized their schedule for the 2011 season. The slate includes eight Saturday home games, the Fourth of July and a patriotic spectacular on July 3rd. There will be 26 home dates at historic Phil Welch Stadium including a first ever scheduled home doubleheader on Saturday June 18th vs Ozark.
The Mustangs will play 42 MINK League games, 21 home and 21 road. The MINK League championship series between the North and South division winners commences July 22nd. The best of three series will crown the MINK Champion and earn the winner a spot in the National Baseball Congress tourney in August.
Mustangs? fans will have a chance to see all MINK League members three times each at Phil Welch this season. The schedule has six exhibition games including former league member Mac & Seitz on June 16th and the US Military All Stars in the patriotic spectacular July 3rd.
The US Military All Stars are made up of US Military veterans from all the service branches. The team, playing since 1990, is commemorating the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks by featuring a pre-game ground zero flag ceremony. A must see for all Mustangs fans. More details will follow as the season approaches.
Fireworks will be featured post game ten times this year including every Saturday from May 28th to July 16th, the fourth of July and the "Road to Ground Zero " game July 3rd. All games begin at 7pm except the June 18th doubleheader has a 5pm start while the July 3rd game starts at 6 pm. All fireworks spectaculars are provided courtesy of Heartland Health.
Head Coach Matt Johnson returns for his third season. The only head coach the Mustangs have had in their three year history, Johnson's squad won a team record 40 games in 2010.
Opening night is May 26th at 7pm. The MINK League home opener is Saturday, June 4th vs the defending league champion Sedalia Bombers at 7pm.
Group tickets and season tickets are on sale now. Individual game tickets go on sale April 1. The 2011 Mustangs roster and promotion schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
