(OVERLAND PARK, Kan.) After trailing by six points at halftime in the NJCAA Division II tournament's quarterfinal round, the No. 2 Highland women shut down No. 10 Parkland's offense and pulled away for an 83-63 win.

The Cobras shot 67.9-percent from the field in the first half, but only managed to hit 23.1-percent of their shots after the break thanks to a big defensive effort from the Scotties. Parkland was forced into 27 turnovers in the loss.

Highland (32-2) also had some impressive individual outings on the offensive end. Julia Alves posted a double-double with 28 points and 15 rebounds in 30 minutes. Ryann Bowser added 16 points, and Ashley Torres has 13.

The Scotties outscored the Cobras 47-21 in the second half of the win.

Highland will face No. 3 St. Clair Friday at 6pm in the tournament's semifinals. The Scotties can finish no lower than fourth in the tourney.
