(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) With one last chance to send the Saturday's MIAA Tournament semifinal to overtime, Bryston Williams left a three-pointer short, allowing Missouri Southern to hold off Northwest for a 70-67 win.

The Bearcats fall to 22-8 as they fail to reach their second straight MIAA Tournament Championship game. They will now wait to find out their seeding in the Central Region of the NCAA Tournament during Sunday night's Selection Show.

After Marquis Addison's opening three on Saturday, Northwest jumped up by as many as eight while leading for much of the first half. Their were four lead changes over the final 4:37 of the half, including a three-pointer by Deshaun Cooper to put the Bearcats up 30-28 as the final seconds ticked away. He finished with 16 points.

The Lions (23-5) grabbed a six-point advantage five minutes into the second half before Northwest used a nine-point swing to gain control again. Their lead stuck at four on two occasions but were forced to trade leads again over the final 11 minutes. Conner Crooker's layup tied it 67-67 with 43 seconds left, but MSSU sealed it with three straight free throws.

Dillon Starzl led Northwest with 17 points while Crooker added 11.
