Northwest Men Blowout SBU; Bearcat Women Fall Short

Northwest women 72, Southwest Baptist 84

Northwest trailed by as much as 23 points, and cut the deficit to five inside two minutes left, but their comeback fell short in an 84-72 loss at Southwest Baptist. SBU was firing on all cylinders in the first half making 68-percent of its field goals in the first 20 minutes. Six players for Southwest Baptist scored in double-digits including 16 points from forward Jacqui Zelenka. Northwest was led by Annie Mathews with 20 points and nine rebounds. Ariel Easton added 19 points and seven assists. The Bearcats also outscored SBU in the paint 40-18.

Northwest men 104, Southwest Baptist 69

For the second time this season, Northwest broke the century barrier in a blowout 104-69 victory against Southwest Baptist. The Bearcats took control in the first ten minutes of the game jumping ahead 27-7 with 10:02 left in the first half. SBU was trailing 54-32 after the first 20 minutes of the game. The Bearcats shot 49-percent from the field, and 50-percent from three-point range going 13-26. DeShaun Cooper led the 'Cats with 22 points and seven assists in 22 minutes. Bryston Williams added 18 points. Northwest is tied with Missouri Southern for first in the MIAA.
