(MARYVILLE, Mo.) Off to their best start since 2008, the Northwest baseball team hit their home diamond for the first time in 2014 on Friday.

Offense was at a premium, but Southwest Baptist took away the fanfare with a 16-8 victory, snapping Northwest's seven-game win streak.

Senior Austin Warren (1-2) lasted three innings as the starter, giving up seven runs, four earned, while striking out one. SBU scored in four of the first five innings, highlighted by a two-run home run by Bo Helsel to give them a 7-2 lead in the third frame.

Northwest (11-6, 8-3) also struck in three of those innings, leading to a 10-7 deficit after five frames. Their only run after that came in the seventh when James Holler scored on an error.

Holding on to an 11-8 advantage, SBU (7-10, 6-7) put the game out of reach in the top of the ninth with five more runs, including a solo homer from Spencer Blacksher.

Northwest's Brandon Huske and Garrett Fort each drove in three runs.

SBU's Spencer Andrews (2-0) got the win despite allowing three runs through 1 1/3 innings.
