(CAMERON, Mo) The annual Royals Caravan marks the final days of the Major League offseason, and the fans, right now, may be more ready than the team.

"We're trying to get our life as much in order as possible because, once the season starts, it's just every day for seventh month," Royals broadcaster Ryan Lefebvre said

The caravan crew including Lefebvre, Jeremy Guthrie, former Royal Dennis Leonard, and Sluggerrr hit the road for its opening day on Wednesday, making a stop at Nelle's Restaurant in Cameron before moving on west to the St. Joseph Hy-Vee. Those are just a pair of stops for the day's rounds, which will end in Overland Park, Kan.

"This is a good preview for all of us. Baseball's coming and the fans are ready to go"

"It's a lot of fun to be able to come and meet the fans that fill the K," pitcher Jeremy Guthrie said.

Everett Teaford was also schedule to make the swing through northwest Missouri, but was designated for assignment earlier Wednesday morning to make room for newly-acquired outfielder Carlos Peguero.

Johnny Giavotella was also moved to another caravan group.

Three separate caravans are making the rounds through Royal country in Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska this year. The small quarters at Nelle's in Cameron provides one of the more personal fan experiences.

"You don't get a chance to shake (the fans') hands typically during a game. When they come to an event like this where it's very small and very intimate, you get to meet them, talk to them, and ask them questions."

"I truly enjoy going on the caravans," Lefebvre added "It's like a chance to share with the fans what I get to experience during the course of seven months."

With just eight days until pitchers and catchers report, this is just the topper to the madness of a Major League marathon season. With excitement around the team reaching new height, Guthrie says it can't come soon enough.

"I think human nature is we love new beginnings and new hope," he said. "That's exactly what this season brings for us."
