If you think just walking around in this hot weather is rough, imagine wearing layers of padding. The heat is now impacting the Chiefs practice schedule. Today?s practice was moved to 6pm, rather than the regular time of 4:30 because of the heat.

Chiefs officials announced Sunday that on the days there are two practices scheduled the second practice will start at 6pm. That affects practice on August 11th and 13th.

The heat can take a toll on the players as heat is the number one weather related killer in the US.

The Chiefs head coach Todd Haley says the schedule change comes after trainers did research on the area. They learned that the hottest part of the day here is in the late afternoon as opposed to mid day.

"...took some coordination on a lot of different peoples part and hopefully that will allow us to have two productive practices," said Haley.

On Sunday, the players had a day off giving them a chance to rest and rehydrate.
