There are a few Chiefs absent on the first day of scheduled practice at Missouri Western.
Dwayne Bowe was tagged as Kansas City's franchise player, but the wide receiver is currently holding out.
He will make $9.5 million in 2012 once he signs his tender.
Head coach Romeo Crennel did not have much to say about Bowe's situation in a press conference Friday morning.
"He is not here, and the only thing that I can tell you is that he's not here," Crennel said. "And I'm only working with the guys who are here, so I know nothing about the situation. I have not spoken with him or anything like that."
Cornerback Jacques Reeves is also not in St. Joseph, while Offensive tackle Branden Albert arrived late to camp.
Crennel said both players are dealing with family issues, and both were excused.
"I know both guys are conscientious, but they have to take care of business and then they will be here when they can," Crennel said.
The Chiefs also signed offensive lineman Tony Ugoh.
Ugoh played for the New York Giants in three games last season. He's also spent time with the Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts.
