(ST. JOSEPH) A week before rookies and quarterbacks report, the layout of Chiefs Training Camp began to take shape Monday in St. Joseph.
Crews were out at Missouri Western assembling tents, preparing the practice field, and putting together training equipment.
The bulk of the Chiefs gear will arrive Tuesday morning from the practice facility in Kansas City.
Although the preparation has been going on for weeks, Jay White, assistant football coach and member of Griffon athletics operations, said the pace kicked up starting Monday morning.
"We're putting the finishing touches on the [indoor complex] and the locker room," he said. "My student works, today, we finished up staining all the lockers to get the scuffs out. We're just tidying up and making sure everything is in tip-top shape for their arrival today and tomorrow."
The Chiefs will hold private practices next Tuesday and Wednesday mornings before the rest of the players report on Thursday. That Friday, July 26th, marks the first open practice at 3:30 p.m.
