On Saturday, leaders with the Kansas City Chiefs and other officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony to formally open the new Griffon Indoor Sports Complex.

"Until you are here standing in this beautiful air-conditioned indoor facility it is really hard to understand how meaningful this is to the football team and how it can contribute to their success,? said Chiefs Chairman, Clark Hunt.

The ceremony was the only opportunity during camp for fans to take a look at the indoor football field.

That is where the Chiefs will practice during inclement weather.

The event included remarks from U.S. Senator Kit Bond, and Missouri Western State University President Robert Vartabedian.

"This is a great boost for the economy, the community, and for Chiefs fans. It helps them get more enthused early on for the Chiefs season and they are all looking for a better season," said Senator Bond.

The chiefs will practice nearly everyday until august 19th.
