Thomas Jones is listed as the Chiefs number one tailback on the depth chart going into thier first preseason game.
Jones was aquired from the New York Jets in the offseason after posting five consecutive 1,000 yard rushing seasons. He's expected to split carries and compete for the starting spot with Jamaal Charles.
Charles became the Chiefs starting tailback halfway through the 2009 season. In that time, he gained 1,120 yards and scored 7 touchdowns.
"He's a really good back," Jones said of Charles. "I'm learning a lot from him just by being around him."
Chiefs Head Coach Todd Haley has been non-commital to one starter, but is leaning towards Jones.
"Without giving any secrets away. I would think that has a chance to continue," Haley said. "We're going to play the guy that gives us the best chance to win on that particular day."
