7 Killed in Missouri Traffic Crashes During Labor Day Weekend

Seven people died in traffic crashes across the state during the holiday counting period, which began Friday, August 30 and ended Monday Sept. 2 just before midnight.
(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) The Labor Day weekend was a busy one for troopers on Missouri's roadways.

Seven people died in traffic crashes across the state during the holiday counting period, which began Friday, August 30 and ended Monday Sept. 2 just before midnight.

Troopers investigated nearly 250 traffic crashes, up from 201 crashes in 2012. They also arrested 119 drivers for DWI. That's down from last year's 147 DWI arrests.

The Highway Patrol also investigated nine boating crashes. Seven were injured in those crashes, but no one was killed. Fourteen were arrested for boating while intoxicated.

No drownings were reported during the holiday counting period.
