Agency Airman Earning High Accolades in Young Career

Airman First Class Camron Calloway humbled after earning Airman of the Year in short time.
(AGENCY, Mo.) He may just seem like another young man serving his country in the military.

But there is something different surrounding Airman First Class Camron Calloway.

Currently stationed overseas, the young man in the Air Force is already getting honored for accolades worthy of his more experienced peers.

"It was an honor because I had only been stationed here for about six months," said Calloway. "But I'm involved with a lot of things here."

A graduate of Mid-Buchanan High School in 2010, Calloway knew he wanted to follow in his brother's footsteps and join the military.

"He was always a smart kid," said Lori Calloway, Camron's mother. "We knew he would be okay no matter what he did or where he went."

Calloway joined the Air Force and is stationed in Germany.

But he quickly began getting noticed by his peers.

After six months, Calloway was awarded with Airman of the Quarter, setting him up to earn another high honor in Airman of the Year.

"They think that he might be the very youngest airmen at the age of 19 to win that award," said Lori Calloway. "And so he's got his picture in the big headquarters there."

But even after all of his achievements at a young age, Calloway is still looking for more challenges to further his career.

"I trying to get an early promotion," said Calloway. "It is a highly competitive position I am going for."
