The first in a series of blasts to bring down the Amelia Earhart Bridge in Atchsion will take place at 9:00 a.m.
(ATCHISON, Ks.) Today marks the beginning of the end for a northeast Kansas landmark.

The first in a series of blasts to bring down the Amelia Earhart Bridge in Atchsion will take place at 9:00 a.m.

Two more blasts will happen in the following days to completely demolish the 75-year-old bridge.

The demolition has faced several delays.

The old Amelia Earhart Bridge was built in 1938.

A new $60 million four lane bridge opened to traffic in June.
