Annual Krug Park Fishing Derby Set for Saturday

Saturday, Sept. 7, marks the 25th year for the event. This year's fishing derby kicks off at 10 a.m. and runs until noon at the Krug Park lagoon.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) There will likely be some fish stories to tell this weekend after the annual Krug Park Fishing Derby.

Saturday, Sept. 7, marks the 25th year for the event. This year's fishing derby kicks off at 10 a.m. and runs until noon at the Krug Park lagoon.

The derby includes prizes for winners in two age groups - 10 and under and ages 11 to 15. Prizes are awarded for the first fish caught, the biggest fish, most catches, best marked fish, and most unusual catches.

Those interested participating should arrive by 9:30 a.m. for registration.

Participants are asked to bring their fishing gear and one dollar. The Fraternal Order of Police will have a bait station set up for those without their own bait.
