(MARYVILLE) Eight seniors still have a couple more outings at Northwest's softball field after being honored Saturday. They'll hit those matchups with momentum following a doubleheader sweep of Washburn by finals of 6-0 and 15-6.
Jenna Creger (11-7) used five strikeouts to fuel her complete game shutout in the first meeting. Northwest (24-12, 12-8) got a pair of RBI from Hailee Hendricks while Jordan Ereth, Kristen Uthe, Kristine Labertew, and Kylie Cantrell each added one to the stat sheet.
The Bearcats wasted little time in game two, knocking in six runs in the bottom of the first inning. Candace Miller started things off with an RBI single before Hendricks brought her around with a two-bagger.
Henricks finished game two with four RBI while Uthe added another trio. Abbie Vitosh got the start in the circle, but the win went to Morgan Brunmeier (3-0) despite allowing four runs off four hits in 2 2/3 innings.
Northwest has now won five straight after suffering a four-game skid. The team returns home Sunday for another doubleheader with Emporia State beginning at noon.
