BETHANY, Mo. -- A northwest Missouri man is accused in the death of his 7-year-old son.

The Harrison County Sheriff's Department said, Tony R. King, 28, of Bethany has been charged with murder in the first degree, felony arson and felony abuse of a child.

Sheriff George Martz said King was arrested and charged Friday for the murder of Jeremiah Lamm who was found dead following a fire at the family's mobile home on Jan. 11.

Authorities who responded to the fire found the child's body in a bedroom after the fire.

According to court documents from the Harrison County prosecutor's office, King "knowingly caused the death" of Lamm by "choking/strangling him."

The probable cause statement also indicates that King strangled his son after "formulating a plan to conceal the act by burning the home with Jeremiah's body inside."

The prosecutor's office also said King abused Lamm between Nov. 16, 2011 and Jan. 10, 2012 by striking the child, leaving bruises and abrasions.

Court documents state that King is a prior and persistent offender who has been convicted before of property damage and felony domestic assault in Gentry County.

King is being held in the Harrison County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
