Betty Ray (Breit) Davis, 67, St. Joseph, MO, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born on September 26, 1945 in St. Joseph, MO to the late Raymond and Velma (Jacobs) Breit. She is a graduate of Lafayette High School.
Betty was employed as a cook at Lafayette High School for 30 years, retiring 6 years ago. During the summers she also worked as a Supervisor for the Dairy Queen, in Savannah, MO.
Mrs. Davis was a devoted member of Copeland Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed gardening and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include two sons, Melvin Thomas (Sheila) Ellis, Jr. and Marc Livingston Ellis; grandchildren, Bobbie Kay Henson, Nichole Richey, Chelsie, Drew, Paige, and Matthew “Chase” Ellis; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Khloe, Fischer, Jack and Thomas; sisters; Gerry Ann Chambers, Judy Crawford and Wendy Sontheimer; brothers, Ray, Roy and Ricky Breit; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betty was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Raymond Ellis, two sisters, Connie Joe King, Caren Ann and brother, David Breit.
Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2013 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon Thursday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
