(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Northwest and Missouri Western's maiden voyage into the NCAA women's golf postseason concluded Tuesday in the third round of the regional tournament.
The Griffons' Natalie Bird and the Bearcats' Steph Charteris became the first individuals to represent their schools in the NCAA Super Regional from the St. Joseph Country Club, but each had their run come to a disappointing end.
Bird shot a 249 in the three day tournament, including an 85 in the final round, to finish tied for 23rd.
Charteris ended the regional with a 252, with an 84 in the third round, to end the tournament tied for 28th.
The event is the final one of Bird's career at Missouri Western. In her four years, she was an first team All-MIAA selection three times, and second team once. She was also MIAA Freshman of the Year during the 2009-10 season.
Charteris is just wrapping up here sophomore campaign at Northwest, and will have two more seasons to top her 2013 finish. She was the MIAA Freshmen of the Year in 2012.
