Bird and Charteris Tied after First Round

<p>Ladies tied for 17th heading into second day of NCAA Central Regional.</p>

(ST. JOSEPH) As two female golfers explore new territory for their respective schools, they are neck-and-neck after their first day of competition at the NCAA Central Regional.

Missouri Western's Natalie Bird and Northwests' Steph Charteris are tied for 17th, shooting an 82 and sitting at 10 over par after the first round at the St. Joseph Country Club.

They sit ten strokes back of the leader, Allie Ostrander (Augusta College), and five strokes back for second in the 48-person field.

Bird tees off in the second round at 8:30 a.m. Monday, while Charteris tees at 8:40.
