Bishop Leblond Announces Early Dismissal for The Week Due to Heat

Bishop LeBlond plans to dismiss at 12:40 today due to the high temperatures. The school will dismiss at 11:55 the remainder of the week.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The heat is making some classrooms uncomfortable across the area and extending an early-out schedule for Bishop LeBlond High School in St. Joseph.

Bishop LeBlond plans to dismiss at 12:40 today due to the high temperatures.

The school will dismiss at 11:55 the remainder of the week.

A school spokeswoman, Kerry Shepherd, said Bishop LeBlond has been in the practice of starting the first couple weeks of the year with early outs in anticipation of the heat. She said they added this week as well because of the extreme heat expected through Friday.

Shepherd said Bishop LeBlond only has two or three fully air conditioned classrooms and the heat can make the day miserable for students and teachers.

She said the school does not go by a specific heat index or temperature to determine an early out, but instead considers student health and safety.
