Campus Cupboard Hosts Cooking Demo at Colgan Center

Students and parents at the Colgan Alternative Resource Center hosted a chef Wednesday afternoon.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Students and parents at the Colgan Alternative Resource Center hosted a chef Wednesday that showed them how to prepare healthy meals.

The school's Campus Cupboard group helped organize the event.

Frank Hartigan showed the group how to use common ingredients to create a soup.

The event was in coordination with the school's parent-teacher conferences.

Adam Lewis is a business teacher at the school and works with Campus Cupboard, which is a satellite food pantry from Second Harvest Community Food Bank.

Lewis said the event helps the parents just as much as the students.

"They're getting a lesson in something maybe they didn't know," he said. "They are getting to learn something along with their students which is a big plus."

Attendees were able to take ingredients home after the show.
